Access Granted

Today (Friday) was a curriculum day so we had no school but we still all went to school and did drama. In the morning we got to school at 10 and took our stuff down to the theatrette. We then fixed up the last little bits of stagecraft. We then went inot the theatrette and rehersed scene 1 in there and man it was awesome. We then had to join up with the rest of the class to work out our prolouge thing at the start. It was a real challenege and so many people wanted to do different things but in the end we just kept it sumple and it looks really good. So then we all had a pizza lunch together in the Drama Room. It was nice to relax around everyone and have some fun. Then after lunch we went back down to the theatrette and went through Scene 3 - 6 with Miss Abley and Ms Craig. It went really well. Almost everything is learnt and all we need to do is run it over and over. So basically we have done the main polishing through this week and today just finalised that. We had alredy done Scene 1 and 2 alot and they where really solid and slick so now it is all good. We where going to do a run but we ran out of time. However, WE PAINTED THE STAIRS AND DAMN!!! THEY LOOK GOOD!!! This was the last thing we did today. So i have to say this week we have come soooooo far. So now on monday - we will run it hopefully 2wice. The Tuesday we have the stage all lunch time and hopefully a bit after school???? And then on wednesday morning is the complete dress rehersal with a real audience. It is swell. WOOT!!!! WOOT!!!

I am really concerned about my fitness for the performance. I went home last night and my leg was really sore and stiff. I woke up again this morning and it was a little bit better. So hopefully it will be okay. Worse comes to worse i will just stock up on the drugs before we reherse!!!! Nah i am hoping it will get better. I can only just starighten my leg. but then when i try and tense it it feels like it is really pulling and sore right up my leg. I didnt do anything to it yesterday it just sorta started. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkk!!!!!!

Hi, i know my blogs have been very few but i thought i would catch up. I am business at the moment but i thought i would use y time more effectivly by blogging here. So yesterday we had to perform a part of our performance to the class. It went okay but the main things that came out of it where that we need to do the following…

FOCUS more. Ben especially needs to watch where his eyes go. I think it will come when he becomes more confident.

We also need to work on the emotion of the piece. We have to connect more with the words we are saying and we need to just really feel it. Feel the pain of the victimes etc.

Energy - Ms Abley said we need to lift it up and put more energy into it. I think this will come with the confidence and with us just letting go.

We have a full day of rehersal 2moro. I am really looking forward to it.

Steph

Today in our double we had to perform scenes from our performance for the rest of the class. We did scene 3 and 4. This showed us that we still need all the rehersal we can get. The main things that came out form todays rehersal is that we need to trust our selves more with our lines. I think it is a really good point. We are still in that stage when we are not confident with the script. Like we know it. We just arent confident about it. Another thing that came out is that we need to have more energy as Ms Abley said it looked kinda flat, again a really good point to take on. We will definitly work on these things. Especially the lines and the energy. A few other things that came out today where that we need to be consistent with the way we do things. For example, the way we hold the test tubes etc. And also where we put hands and feet. I think that we could maybe reherse it (especially scene 4) in front of the mirror. What else, yeh just have to make sure steph and jen pin their hair back and little stuff that is easy to fix up. My main concern is that we need to learn our lines. It iwll be tough as we only have done scene 5 and 6 recently. We just need to make sure we reherse everyday. I know that it is a huge amount of time and OMG i miss my lunch times but i think that it will make it so mucdh more enjoyable not only for the audience but for us. Anyways i am going to go over my lines coz we have like a week!!!!! OMG

Today we had a really good rehersal. After last week finishing blocking everything, we decided to go back overe scene 3 as it is the one that we really just blocked and then moved on. So today was a catch up on that. We started at reccess and went into period 3 with the scene 3 rehersal. We where still bot happy with it as we still needed to tweeq little bits of dialouge - namely “Around the World In 40 Seconds”. Steph and i also had to re learn our jounralist lines )our questions and our headlines so we did this in Business Management. So at lunch time we went back to the Drama Studio and got a bit more done and refined in scene 3. The only problems where that “Around The World In 40 Seconds” was still very blury. So tonight we where all going to fix our little bit so that in tomorows lunch time rehersal we can fix A.T.W.I.40.S. The only other fixing thing we need to do is fix the struggle up on the stairs. We will do this at lunch also.
So in tomorows rehersal at LUNCH we shall do…
>Fix A.T.W.I.40.S.
>Fix the stairs struggle
After that we are done refining scene 3 So that on wednesday we can start the class off by doing a run through of the WHOLE PERFORMANCE!!!!!!! So exciting. You iknow there where some days i never thought that this day would come. But WOW. We have done it. A whole performance. So yeh, Period One Wednesday ===> Run through the performance. Time it.
Rest of Period One and Two ===> Check off asspects of the performance to the Prescribed Structure and Content Checklists. And also go over problem areas.
ACCESS GRANTED WILL BEAT THE REST AS WE ARE THE BEST. We are finnaly almost there!!!!!! Oh i love life. Woot.
Oh and to the other groups, Ben loves you all and i think that you are all freakin awesome!!!!

Ensembles are 10 days to go. HOLY MOLEY!!!!!! All stage craft done except for nurse puppet. Yvey - don’t stress over workcard. We will use our prescribed sturucture folder. It is all okay.

Just have to polish and polish and spit and polish. (okay so not the spitting coz that is gross!) Anyways the only thing worrying me is the stairs. We are moving them down and painting them on thursday arvo if i am not mistaken. Just have to do wheels. Hopefully tomorow. Um so yeh. I am having a little bit of trouble with learning my longer lines. Mainly the news reporter and the politian at the end. The memory of being evacuated is fine coz i can just sorta feel it and coz there is so much build up of pathos it will be swell. Looking forward to this week. Ahhhh, 10 days. Love it!!!!

ahhh only one week to go it seems like its gone sooo fast im terrified of not having included all the neccessary criteria the nerves are strating already but performance night is always fun so i jst think bout dat soo much to get ready props- puppets and stairs oh n cnt forget the work card plus prctise practise practise heheheh but im confident in my group and ensemble which  is the main thing:D  yvey

So in period 6 today Jen and I caught the bus up to the glen and bought a few things for our ensemble. We got

-Matching Blacks

                                 Tops $10 each

                                 Pants $8 each

We also got the little battery candles - $6

We have to have a play with them as they do not put out a whole great deal of light.

Anyways, that crosses a fair few things off the list. No all we have to do is the stairs - which i think we are doin on Monday and the sock puppet. Today we also went over scene 5 and 6 with Steph and man does it look good. We just have to learn our lines. I am a bit worried about all the little speech bits. The dialouge between characters will be fine. Just the long bits i have in scene 2 (news reported) scene 4 (childs memory) and scene 6 (losing politian). Not ot 3worried about Scene 4 as that is just a memory so i can not say it perfectly. I just have to be sure of what i am saying. So really just scene 2 and 6.

BENNY BOY

Okay so today was so super fantastical brilliant ecstatic and any other positive describing word you can think of. WE HAVE FINNALY BLOCKED OUT OUR WHOLE PERFORMANCE. And we did it without the whole group there. But it is cool coz i know that steph will be able to pick it up so quickly. And i am so gled steph didn’t break any bones at soccer - i had nightmares that she would - Oh Gosh. I also got time in my frees today to make the placard statistic photo things and man do they look good!!!!

Anyways, we have also sorted the focus evenly so we all have a solo and split focus.

I think it is pretty fair. I mean we are never going to have it perefect but i think it is cool.

We also have written a list of little things that we need to do get in these last 2 weeks. These include…

>Put the second set of stairs on wheels (we are doing this 2moro)

>Get matching blacks

>Get the little battery tea candels (Reject shop)

>Paint the stairs and take down to the theatrette - next friday

>Get more batteries for the torches

There wher a few other things but i can’t remember exactly.

So basically we just have to polish and reherse and smooth out any creses in the performance. It shall be marvelous.

On another note, Effie (Golden Bunnies) and I went to Ms Ableys year 11 class today to help and se how they where going and it was really interesting. I say that for 3 reasons.

1. It was good to see them actually do some stuff as they are just faces. Now we know a bit about them and their performances.

2. It was interesting to see the dynamics in the class. There are 2 groups out of the three doing really well. And the other one was really laging behind.

3.It was intersting to see that they are like we where last year. And it was clear to me that we are so much more sophistatcted and more in depth with ideas and stagecraft and just the depth and maturity of the ideas we produce compared to them. I also think that it has alot to do with learning for m last years ensemble and not making the same mistakes. Like we know what to do and what not to, but they don’t. But yeah, it wass really good to see a performance on another topic rather than hearing CHERNOBYL 1 trillion times. SO yeah, today was a big drama day as you can tell by the size of this blog.
