Access Granted

Well its all finished. The day before the exam:( all our playmaking techniques: research, scripting, editing, improvisation and rehersal all amounted to the final product……our ensemble. It seems so long ago that we were first provided with the perscribed stucture placed in our groups and told to create a non-naturalistic peformance incorporating elements of Brechts epic theater. A task we would have for nine long weeks. 2nd week in we had had enough but then came the afterschool, curriculam days and weekend rehersals and everyone was sick of Chernobyl and eachother , questioning why infact the chose drama as a year 12 subject. But then just in the nick of time creapt up performance day Arrrrr firt to year 8&9 that was such a thrill every one came together and put on a show we took on boared advice and prepared for the BIG night………

 Thursay the 25th of May came and we were all a bunch of hipo, sugar filled actors but we were all there to do our best and offer our support to eachother:) support which went a long way. It was a succes eve3ryone rised above all expectations. My group was great we were having so much fun and pumping eachother up that the actuall performance was a perfect end to an already great day, only hiccup was an issue with our prop which was moved and thus caused a bit of a messy transition for one of our  scenes.  

Now that its over im sad although i don’t believe we could have had it any longer without going MAD!!!!!! :P but it is a sad realisation that i will never have the opportunity to actwith the class again, this calss which i have been together for 2 years now, a group of talanted people who band together to produce masterpieces and always strive for the best. 

then i remamber this is why i do drama because it is one of the most rewarding subjects and allows you to meet some of the most amazing people……………..so now SOLOS!!!!!!  

Well, drama ensemble has been over for a week now. And i have been avoiding doing this last ensemble blog as i don’t really know what to say. The night went really well. We performed with an energy that we never ever had before and with a real feel for the emotion we where trying to convey to the audience. Am just so greatful that i had a awesome group who didnt fight and want to kill each other!!!! Anyways, on a whole i think that the whole process was tiring, sttressfull but in the end a really fun thing that i will look back on and remember.

I was planning to write a little evaluation of how i think our group went but i am soo tired and will write this blog 2moro. Love you all in blog world. Ben

The ensemble performance is now complete. But let me take you back to 2.10 today when we had the final drama class before the ensemble showcase!!!!
It was a beautiful day but we where all scared, excited, tired, enxious and “meh”. We had a run through of the Prolouge and discussed how things would work tonight. Then at 3.00pm Steph, Stacie, Jen and i wandered up to Mount Village to get some things that we would need for tonight. These included food, drinks, torches (as they broke) etc. We then went down and rejoined our class to get readdy for the showcase. Access Granted then went and had a run through on the stage in Fast Forward as we need to capture the energy and i think that we did. We then went and had some dinner. This included Pizza, chips and pineapple juice. Ash then gave us all a heart to show that she does love us (which we knew all along). Then it was back stage to the greenroom to put on our blacks, do our hair and do our make up. We all looked hot. This took alot longer than it should have but anyways we then ventured on to the stage and did focus and warm ups etc. It was almost 7.30 and most of us where really
nervous. The showcase arrived and every single person in our class performed amazingly well. It was so good. For more on our performances see next blog!!!!

So in 25 hours form now the showcase will start. This is pretty incredible. We have all come such a long, long way. Anyways today we got to do our performance for a real audience. It was loads of fun. We also got some good feedback. The main thing is that we need to push the emotion and the physical energy and just let go and enjoy it and just go nuts with energy. I think that we can get there but man, i dunno how i am going to do it. I am feeling really tired and just over the whole thing. But i think that the excitement and the nerves will help it. I am also a bit worried about the length of our performance. We got timed at 29.32 yesterday when we did a run through and today we did our first 4 scenes and that went for 23 mins!!! I am just worried we will go over 32 minuet time limit. I think that it will go faster on the night. Hopefully. Ekkkk.

We where going to do lunch today and we all came but we just went through feedback and discussed the plan for afterschool 2moro.
The plan is to go through the performance in period 6. Then at 3ish we (who are still here and who ever wants to) is to go get some salad form the chicken shop (and also get a few other things including a new torch as i broke ANOTHER one today!!!!) and bring it back, do another rehersal maybe (even if it is just a walk through of scene 1 -4 and then the others in full) and then eat and then get ready and focus. Just a warning fo anyone who reads this, if am a horrible person 2moro please understand. I just want to warn you in case i start stressing out and worrying and get all angry/annoyed etc. I do love you but there is a chance that it may happen. I have put my heart and soul (sorry for the cliche) into this perfomance as has everyone else but i really care about 2moro night and i will do anything and everything to make it perfect.

Today we did 2 whole run throughs. And FAR OUT!!!! It was a trillion billion times better than yesterday. We just did it in the foyer of the theatrette but that was okay. it felt so good. It was a really clean run and it was really neat and slick. However the energy was still a bit low but better. I think that being on stage with all the lights and costumes will help lift us. It will raise us up that next level - hopefully. Oh life is grand when things go to plan. So excited to perform to the test audience 2moro. Wooh Drama. I am also so glad our group isn’t turning on each other or anything. Oh wow. It;s almost over. This is the best part. The performing. BRING ON TOMOROW and THURSDAY!!!! So excited

 I can finnaly see our whole performance finnaly coming together. Although yesterdays first full run on the stage was really messy and not very good, i am confidenet that it will be okay. We just have to keep doing run throughs. We also have to work out what we show to the Year 8’s, 9’s and 10’s. We only have 20 mins. I think that we should do scene’s 1 - 4. I dunno why. It will be good to do a proper performance with a proper audience. Just to see when they will laugh and when we need to heighten the pathos etc. Looking forward to it.

 It’s time to push that RED BUTTON and Panic

Hey guys, expect loads of blogs in the next 72 hours
Oh Gosh where do i start. Well how about today!!! Got to school late today and that was bad. Then had maths - boring. Then had a free!!! Yah - and me and Effie (of the golden bunnies) Went to the theatrette to check the stairs. They where fine - THANK GOD!!!!! Anyways then we went and had recess for a little bit. Then Period 3 we had DRAMA!!!! And it was the most emotionally tough lesson. We started off by bumping in to the theatrette and that was exciting. Then we got shown the newly renovated green room and OMG - It is beautiful. It is like we are stars!!!!! Fantabulous. And then we went on stage thinking we would be able to go off a rehese (and coz it was my groups day on the stage) we thought -hey this is going really well. We can get used to the stage and then at lunch we cando a full polished perfect run. But instead we had a huge fight among the class. We whrere talking about the music that the prolouge thing was done to and stacie had a new better song for us to do it for. Just as the final decision was being made i brought up that ash who gave us the first song and put work into finding it etc may be hurt that we go and schange everything when she was not there. It just would feel bad for her to come back in and then have all her work changed. I just thought it was wrong that we would do that to her. Especially since we are meant ot be this family that includes everyone and loves everyone. I got particullaly angry at one group member who was all like “who cares, Ashli’s song was S**T and that we souldnt use it in the 1st place.” Then when i tried to continue with my point i just got talked over.” It really upset me. Anyways so that was s**T coz we only had time to move thew stairs onto the stage. SO at lunch we did our very first run through and it was pretty bad. It was slow, messy, draggy and was Sh*t. This made me really upset coz we dont have much time we can reherse and now i am super worried about wednesday when we have a test audience. GRRRRR. SO upset but then my steph made me feel better after. And i am also so prouddof my girls as they went over the worst bit of the performance (Scene 1 - really sh*t today) went over all of it that they could and made it better.
So looking forward to 2moro we have to… go over problem areas (scene 1 and 2) at recess and then do a whole run at lunch. Then fix things afterschool. Oh drama!!!
72 hours to go till the night exactly right now. Holy moley!!!! Lets just hope 2moro is better

let me start off by saying, friday was GREAT and well worth it.
we started at about 10 and left at about 4.
a few of those hours were taken up by stagecraft & lunch! haha, and the “epilogue”.
but the rest was pure performance.
i’m so proud of our group, we all know we can do it and pull it off..
the only thing i’m kind of, slightly, worried about is that we haven’t done a complete run through or timed it or anything
but i guess we do have time still. mon tues and wed. lunch after school and actual periods.
so it’;ll be good, as long as everyone knows their lines and remembers transitions into scenes etc.
ahhh, the pieces are all coming together nicely.
